A Calming Experience for a Hospital Waiting Room

THE BRIEF

Redesign the critical care waiting room experience at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Take into consideration the sensitivity of the circumstances families were faced while waiting for their kids to come out of operative care.

THE IDEA
"WINDOWS"

We created an immersive installation called "Randomly In Its Place."  The experience was based on the idea of looking out of a series of windows into a beautiful pasture of rolling hills, tall grass, butterflies and dandelion seeds; all of which subtly react to the proximity of people moving around inside the room.  Overall, the experience was meant to convey a warm, calming and uplifting feeling while families wait for their children to recover from their operations.
